We hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. We celebrated it in grand fashion: we scrubbed the outside of our house before the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee decided to dump over six inches of liquid sunshine on us. It's was Labor Day right? That means we work right? Honestly, we really had to get that done.
Anyway, enough about that stuff. With September having arrived, the weather cooling off a bit, and our favorite time of year (Autumn) being right around the corner, that can only mean one thing. It's time to get outside for some hiking and festival attending. All the autumn time festivals are getting ready to ramp up. Next weekend, there's a real treat of an event going on at The Big South Fork NRRA. It's the 19th Annual Haunting in the Hills Story Telling Festival on September 17th.
If you happen to be in the area, be sure to NOT miss out on this one. This is one event we look forward to every year. We've been going to watch storytellers practice their craft for years, talk about entertainment. It certainly beats sitting at home watching football on a Saturday afternoon and evening. Not only will there be storytelling by some great nationally know storytellers, there will also be live music, crafts, folk art, and much more. Festivities begin at 10am and go on in to the night. At 8:00pm the really good stuff starts when the storytellers delight us with devilish, scary stories that the whole family will enjoy.
Why not make it an all day thing and get there really early for a pleasant hike? The Bandy Creek area of Big South Fork offers several great trails for all us hikers. After you're done hiking you can get out the camp chairs and get a good spot under the big tent for the day, enjoy food from local vendors and all the festivities. If your lucky, you might be fortunate enough to get a site at the Bandy Creek campground. Although I think the last time I heard there were only 2 sites left for next weekend, and that's been a week or so ago.
Well, that's all we have for now. We apologize for not posting anything in a few days as we've been really busy with all the housework and nursery stuff. I know you all want pictures of the nursery. You'll just have to wait a little bit longer. We are still working on all the finishing details. Maybe I can coax Robin into a small sneak peek in the next day or two. Until then....
